据工作人员解释，饮品瓶只有经材质分离后才能被有效回收，“瓶身是1号PET，瓶盖和瓶盖小环是4号PE”。现场还播放了PET瓶回收过程的视频，演示其如何被切碎成细末，经注塑机后制成统一规格的颗粒……工作人员还让小朋友们触摸PET细末以及加工后的细线，并现场展示了用PET回收材料制成的游泳衣、沙滩裤、帽子、围巾、眼罩、背包等。
最让小朋友们觉得新奇的当属一台能搅碎塑料瓶盖的自行车，这辆由Precious Plastic Shanghai团队成员参与设计改造的环保自行车可以轻而易举地将PE瓶盖搅碎。瓶盖经过自行车上加载的切割器，通过人工脚踩，动力转化为电力，将塑料瓶盖搅碎成小颗粒，变成回收预加工品。
参加活动的小朋友与家长们还借由三个将塑料变废为宝的手工小物件DIY，感受到塑料回收的重要性。萌趣的仙人掌装饰，实用的零钱包，精致的小花胸针，谁能想到这些小玩意儿都是由用过的PET瓶、塑料袋、水果包装等制成。
仙人掌装饰：PET瓶经多次剪切后，用电熔枪打孔，装饰成花盆。
